3D optical and mechanical measurements

Documentation and validation are essential when supplying medical disposables. Knudsen Plast operates with 3D optical and mechanical measurement. We use the Nikon iNexiv VMA-2520 CNC-controlled measuring machine which has a 200x zoom (10x optical) and a range of 250 mm x 200 mm x 200 mm.

Knudsen Plast recently invested in a GOM measuring instrument: Using 3D scans we can now measure the external dimensions of moulded items in no time at all and compare them to the original 3D drawings. We can calculate the repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R) of the measured dimensions, enabling us to determine the quality of produced items at any time and compare them to the agreed product specifications.

Furthermore, we have made sure the same equipment is available in our factory in Slovakia, ensuring that the need for accurate quality control does not hinder cost price optimisation.
